A bit of theorizing last night resulted in a stunning wine / food match – Leek and Blue Cheese risotto with a side of fresh asparagus made up the solid component, and Saint Clair Family Estate Vicar’s Choice Sauvignon Blanc 2010 completed this magic pairing. This is a fantastic wine for the price point – with an interesting complex nose of blackcurrant bud, asparagus, and gooseberry, the balanced acidity cutting through and lifting the viscid, yet deliciously more-ish risotto.

The herbaceous sweetness of the leek complements the palate of this Sauvignon Blanc suberbly. Risotto recipe upon request though if you venture out upon your own culinary adventure for this dish, an important tip is to use more wine than stock!!
